Seattle Baroque fans will recall the beautiful partnership between the Orchestra and the Whim W’Him Contemporary Dance company that resulted in stunning new choreography for Pergolesi’s famous Stabat Mater. Rachell Ellen Wong and Olivier Wevers join forces to make a new creation based on J. S. Bach’s Concerto for 2 violins and strings, BWV 1043. Presented with four dancers and Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Pas de Deux will challenge your expectations of old and new. The program will feature additional instrumental works by Pisendel, Fasch, Telemann, Scarlatti & Durante.

Closing Season 22/23, Whim W’Him presents SPRING ‘23. Featuring internationally acclaimed creators Emilie Leriche, Rauf Yasit alongside Founder and Artistic Director Olivier Wevers, these new works represent the vanguard of contemporary dance. Emilie Leriche, a French-American choreographer based in Sweden, performs with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and was a 2015 Princess Grace Award winner. Rauf Yasit, also known as rubberlegz, is the creator of an original movement language that breaks down barriers between dance genres. Born and raised in Germany, Yasit is now a Los Angeles-based choreographer, director, dancer and visual artist. In his third new work of the season, Olivier Wevers continues to explore his fluid movement language and theatricality, which makes Whim W’Him a standout amongst contemporary dance companies.

Whim W’Him will also present the program on Vashon Island at the Vashon Center for the Arts on May 17, 2023, and on Whidbey Island at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts on May 24, 2023.
