  • No, but we have committed to an all-virtual season, meaning all of our content will be able to be viewed online on our new streaming platform, IN-With-WHIM. Memberships to this streamed content can be purchased for $15/month, giving you access to new creations, past creations paired alongside interviews with choreographers and dancers, and educational and creative content designed and programmed by our dancers and Artistic Director. Save 33% by purchasing a yearly membership at $120/year and get unlimited access to all of our content all year.
  • We are in the planning stages of creating physically distant, outdoor FREE pop-up appearances that will engage our communities through innovative contemporary dance creations in ways that are safe and responsible. These performances will happen throughout the year (weather permitting), pending the progression of this pandemic.
  • We miss you, too! As much as we would love to perform in a live setting and theatre for you, we are intentional in our commitment to the creation of new work in the form of dance film this year.

  • Through IN-with-WHIM, Whim W’Him will feature an experimental season of original dance films by some of the world’s most intriguing contemporary dance choreographers, and a series of digital conversations designed to bring audiences into the creative process to share and engage with the dance community in Seattle and around the globe. Whim W’Him is creating the original dance films in collaboration with Quinn Wharton, a New York-based movement photographer and filmmaker who has also danced professionally with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and San Francisco Ballet.
  • We created this season as a way to prioritize the health of our artists and the community, while supporting ways for dance artists, students and audiences to come together while staying apart.

  • Once you have purchased a membership, you can use your login and password to enter through the IN-with-WHIM portal. All of our programming is clearly labeled with the headings New Creations, Past Creations, Dance & Tell, Dance Whims, and IN-Reach (classes and workshops taught by our dancers!).

  • New Creations will be added on September 24, 2020, January 28, 2021 and May 27, 2021.
  • Past Creations paired with interviews with the choreographers will be released twice per month.
  • IN-Reach: Every month, Whim W’Him will offer three pre-recorded workshops taught by three different dancers. These workshops are open to everyone at all levels of interest and experience. Move with us!
  • Dance Whims: These fun, experimental dance shorts will be conceived and created by the dancers of Whim W’HIM. They will include collaborations with other artists working in all mediums in the Seattle area.
  • Our program XALT from Season 10 will be released on August 13, 2020 along with a live event called Dance & Tell. The films will be accessible beyond this release date along with your monthly or yearly membership. Details for Dance & Tell here.
  • The Choreographic Shindig films will be released along with a live event called Dance & Tell on September 24, 2020.
  • The film for This Is Not The Little Prince will be released on January 28, 2021, along with a live Dance & Tell event.

  • Absolutely! Once you are logged in to the In-with-WHIM portal, new creations will be under the first heading you see.

  • We created this all-digital season as a way to prioritize the health of our artists and the community while supporting ways for dance artists, students and audiences to come together while staying apart. To lower the risk of exposure for our dancers, we’ve also designed rehearsal guidelines that follow recommendations created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization. We are committed to following these standards.
