SEASON 23/24

invest in imagination and community

When you become a member of Whim W’Him you’re getting more than just tickets. You’re joining an amazing community of dance lovers who enjoy gathering together in person to witness extraordinary moments of artistry and explore our shared humanity.

Witness the power of bold innovation as we explore the wondrous relationship between dance and the human condition. From new voices to returning Whim W’Him favorites, Season 23/24 will take you on an exhilarating journey of movement, artistry, and creativity. Prepare for a mesmerizing display of cutting-edge creations that defies expectations and ignites your imagination.

This transformative season features eight globally lauded choreographers, many seen in Seattle for the first time. We return to the Erickson Theatre with FALL ‘23, featuring new creations from Hannah Garner, one of Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch in 2020; Dava Huesca, the co-founder of the interdisciplinary arts collective LLAB Rats which seeks to practice art as activism for the benefit of Black folks; and Ana Maria Lucaciu, a freelance choreographer and performing artist who has worked with Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter and many others. Also known as our annual Choreographic Shindig, the Whim W’Him company dancers curated this electrifying program from over 200 applicants worldwide.

2024 kicks off with WINTER ‘24 at Cornish Playhouse with new creations from Bret Easterling, an international dance artist and Choreography Fellow at Jacob’s Pillow in 2018 making his Seattle premiere, and Joseph Hernandez, NW Dance Project’s first Associate Choreographer, returning for his third creation for Whim W’Him. And rounding out the program, a world premiere creation from Artistic Director Olivier Wevers.

Closing our season with SPRING ‘24 at Cornish Playhouse, this European-focused program will feature incredible creations from Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, one of Spain’s most internationally acclaimed artists, making his debut in Seattle and Whim W’Him favorite and Artistic Director of Cie. La Ronde, Ihsan Rustem returning for his fourth premiere. Artistic Director Olivier Wevers will present another exquisite work alongside these brilliant creators.

Each program will travel to our island home on Vashon for performances at the gorgeous Vashon Center for the Arts

In addition, join us in August for the fourth year of our popular Pop-Up series. We’re excited to perform in new parks and communities around Seattle. As the sun sets and the city comes alive, join us to see dance in unexpected and enchanting outdoor spaces. We are taking contemporary dance out of the theater and into your backyard. Get ready to be swept away by the raw energy and dynamic movements as our dancers unleash their athleticism and artistry in the open air.

Be moved!
